Only when we have submitted to God that the enemy flees from us (James 4:7). But how do we remain submitted to God? By praying without ceasing.

Praying continuously is our way of admitting that we cannot, but God can.

Prayer enables us to remain grounded in the things of God and to hear Him clearly as He speaks to us.

It causes us to be aware of His presence in our lives. And to submit to Him as He guides us in the way to go.

When we put God first and remain submitted to Him, the enemy has no option but to flee.

He knows that we are walking with God, and He is fighting our battles.

  1. Imparts Wisdom.

Godly wisdom is one of the benefits of praying without ceasing. Jesus said that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

The Bible says that Jesus is our wisdom. We need Jesus every day in our lives.

When we abide in Him, Jesus will help us tackle different challenges. But how do you continue in Him each day? By praying continually.

When we turn to Him in prayer, He listens and gives us wisdom that enables us to deal with our challenges.

  1. Keeps us from Sin.

One of the things that we learn from the Lord’s Prayer is to ask God to keep us from temptation.

Praying without ceasing enables us to continually ask God to lead us not to temptation.

Through prayer, we surrender our weakness, lust, and greed to God.

The truth is we cannot avoid temptation in our own strength.

If we do that, then we are going to fall for the schemes of the enemy.

We need help from God to avoid every kind of temptation that the enemy throws at us.

Asking God for help will help us to see temptation from far off. It will also help us to know how to avoid it.

  1. You will live under God’s protection.

God tells us that if we call upon Him, He will answer and protect us.

When we do not pray, we are actually telling God that we can handle everything.

That we do not need His help. Prayer enables us to call upon Him in our day of trouble and ask for help.

You don’t have to live in fear. Your heavenly Father is ready and willing to help you overcome all the devices of the enemy. But you need to ask him for help.

  1. Keeps you in God’s will.

To know how to perform a specific task, you need to listen to instructions.

If you want to live a good and long life, you need to listen to your parents and elders.

To understand kingdom stuff and what is written in the Bible, you need to pray without ceasing.

It is through prayer that God opens your mind so that you can understand the Bible.

When you talk to God, He reveals His will for your life and how to live accordingly.

  1. Gives you Hope.

Some situations in life are so bad they leave us feeling so discouraged. But there is one that loves us so much.

We only need to turn to Him and ask for help.

See, at times we convince ourselves that we can handle it.

We think that our problem is either too big or too small for God. But that is not true.

There is nothing too hard or small for God. God cares about every aspect of our lives.

It doesn’t matter how bad your situation is. When you go to God in prayer.

He’s going to fill your heart with hope so that you can continue to stand.

You will continue standing firm in faith until the manifestation of the promise comes to pass.

  1. Spiritual Strength.

Are you feeling tired? Do you feel like giving up altogether?

Well, you are not alone. Many of us are being attacked by the enemy from all angles, we feel like giving up.

God feels so far away, and we feel so weak. We cannot fight anymore.

The truth is, God always comes through for us when we get to the end of ourselves.

See, we block God from helping us when we try to do things by ourselves. But when surrender to God and give him our all He shows up powerfully.

We should always live knowing that we are nothing apart from God.

That we cannot handle the enemy by ourselves. We need God on our side, and that is why we are encouraged to pray continually.

We should ask Him to strengthen us in our inner being so that we can continue walking in His purposes.

Praying continually will help you in times when you want to give up.

God will fill you with strength so that you can keep on doing what He has called you to do.

Even when you don’t feel like doing it physically.

  1. Walk in the Peace of God.

Jesus said that He has given us his peace (John 14:27). That is the same peace that enabled Jesus to walk on top of the water when the storm was raging on.

It is also the same peace that enabled Jesus to remain calm when other people mocked Him. And shouted, crucify Him!

See, the enemy will defeat us as long as our hearts are troubled.

He will confuse us with His lies, kill our faith and destroy our lives. That is why we need to walk in the peace that Jesus has given us.

To fight the good fight of faith, we need the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

We also need this peace so that we can make decisions that align with the purposes of God.

Praying without ceasing gives God access to our hearts. When we walk in peace, we get to enjoy the other benefits of praying without ceasing.

He also exposes the conditions of our hearts so that we can deal with wrong thoughts about Him and ourselves.

When these wrong mindsets are removed, we can follow His leading and walk in His peace.

  1. Helps us to Conform to the Image of Christ.

The word of God tells us to conform to the image of Christ and not the things of this world. But it’s tough to conform to the image of Christ in this world.

A lot is happening around us. We are being pulled on every side that sometimes it is hard for us to know what to do.

We need divine intervention so that we can remain grounded in the things of God. And the only way that we can get this help is by praying constantly.

We need to have an intimate relationship with God so that He can tell us what to do every day.

Talking to Him every time will also help us hear as He corrects us or warns us against certain things.

If your desire is to become Christ-like, you need to keep on communicating with Jesus. He will teach you his ways and show you what to do.

Jesus will also teach you how to handle different situations the way He handled them when He was here on.

  1. Helps us to depend on God fully.

God doesn’t want us to live independently of him. He wants us to continue walking in His way.

And to be submitted fully to Him so that we can enjoy the things He has given to us freely. But it is very difficult to depend on someone that you are not talking to.

To depend on God fully, we need to be in a constant mode of prayer.

Don’t get so caught up with the things of this world because they are only temporary.

Instead, lean on God and trust the process that is taking you through.

Even if He tells you to do something that doesn’t make sense to you, just do it.

As long as something gives you peace, then keep on trusting God. He will never lead you wrong.

  1. Keeps your prayer life Fresh.

You may find yourself drifting away when you restrict your prayer life to a particular time.

Prayer may start to feel like a chore. And with the time you may begin to replace your prayer time with other things on your to-do list.

One of the benefits of praying without ceasing is that it’ll cause you to enjoy spending time with God.

Since you’re in constant communication with God, you will get to know God intimately.

Your prayer life will stop being boring because words will come naturally.

As you continue in prayer throughout the day, you start to feel like you are talking to your best friend.

If you have been struggling to pray, try doing it constantly.

Quit praying robotic prayers and start talking with your Father and best friend.  In your free time, go somewhere and just talk to God.

Look at the world and everything that God has created.

Does it look boring to you? When you pray, you’re talking to the creator of heaven and earth, and He is definitely not dull.

Prayers do not have to be boring. God can refresh your prayer life if you only ask and pray continually.

  1. Glorifies God.

God created us so that we can have an intimate relationship with him.

One of the ways that we can do that is through prayer.

When we take the time to pour our hearts into Him, we show Him that He is important to us.

That He is all that matters in our life, and we recognize how great He is.

When we pray continually, we are, in essence, glorifying God.

How is that?  We’re doing exactly what He created us to do. And that is to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

In short:

Though the benefits of praying without ceasing are many, it’s challenging to do so when you’re not used to prayer.

As a matter of fact, it sounds impossible to do it. But if you can think, then you can pray continually.

You may not do it correctly the first time, but you’ll find yourself enjoying the process.

And soon you’ll get used to praying without ceasing. Talking to God first will be something you default to every day.

You’ll stop seeing God as someone who is far away as He will become your best friend.

Praying without ceasing will help you make the right decisions in life.

You’ll be checking in with God before you do anything, and this will cause you to walk in His ways.

It’ll also cause you to grow closer to Him because God draws near to us when we draw close to Him.
