Sometimes we see our lives as a to-do-list and get trapped in our everyday routine.
That is when we realize we have to do something: we have to change. “Yes, but where do I start?”
The best way to start this process is by reading your Bible to know what Jesus says about you and how your life can be transformed.
You can also add some readings that will be mentioned later in the article.
Now, as I was saying, the Bible is definitely the basis for a turning point: it talks a lot about transformation and how to change yourself for the better.
So here some life-changing Bible verses that you don’t want to miss:
“You did not choose me, but I chose you” – John 15:16
We often talk about the day when we decided to follow Christ. But God does not look at us saying “Thank you for choosing me”! He chose us first and not vice versa.
We often feel like we are not “the right person” for specific work or we do not feel prepared enough.
Well, God trusts you and has appointed you to bear fruit. The fact that He chose us, doesn’t mean we have to do nothing but the contrary: He picked us, we should want to do our best for Him.
He always exhorts us to change our perspective and remind us that we have to see life from His point of view, not ours. Now my question is “How do you see yourself? Start living as a chosen one.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is.” – Romans 12:2
“What’s my call?”. First of all, the right question should be “What’s God’s call for me?”. To know the answer, you have to be willing to change your mindset.
God’s will involves not only heart and passion but has to do with your mind’s malleability and humility.
The great thing is that this verse says “be transformed”: it is a passive form, not active. The only thing you have to do is let Jesus transform you.
How often do we think about change as something we have to do alone? When we have a personal relationship with Jesus, we need to know that He is helping us and doing much more than we might expect.

“Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready; after that, build your house.” – Proverbs 24:27
Change is not something that comes all of a sudden: it is about little steps taken with perseverance.
It happens that Christians get too spiritual and forget that life is also about the organization and stuff done in a certain order.
Jesus is the perfect role model to follow to learn how to change yourself (and your life) for the better in a practical way.
As Marc Reklau makes you notice in his book “30 Days – Change your habits, change your life: A couple of simple steps every day to create the life you want”, the change will not come from the outside but from taking full responsibility of your own life and diversifying small habits every day.
Make a plan to achieve your goals, be patient, and learn to value this time of preparation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” –2 Corinthians 5:17
Don’t look at yourself as a person with wounds unable to change your attitudes. Saying “That’s who I am” is not a valid excuse.
The Bible says you are a “new creation”: when you encounter God’s love, your past is defeated and cannot affect your present. That means your life is completely new!
If you want to discover His radical love for you, add to your cart Mark Stibbe’s book “100 Bible Verses That Will Change Your Life: It’s Time to Encounter the Father’s Love”.
This book will give you insights that you did not have before and will strengthen your faith as a Child of God.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” -Ephesians 5:15-16
Are you living fully and in a wise way? Seize opportunities and don’t be afraid. Every day is a new day! But be careful: not everything comes to improve your life.
Learn to discern opportunities by relying on your expectations of God.
He wants to do great things in your life and He has planned an amazing life for you. Let God work before your eyes (1 Samuel 12:16) and be ambitious.
Maybe there will be days you will feel hopeless and start asking “Is God really working in my life?”. Remember that the answer is always yes.
During these life periods, you might feel like Elijah’s servant (2 Kings 6): your everyday eyes may see “an army with horses and chariots” that wants to destroy you, but as soon as you open your spiritual eyes, you see that God’s army, is way bigger than you thought.
“Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” – Romans 13:14
Are you focusing on Jesus or on the flesh?
If you often have flesh issues, change yourself for the better by focusing on the fact that Jesus gave you His brand-new clothes, and wore your dirty shirt to win the flesh.
This is a real life-changing verse the moment you realize what Jesus has done for you!
Start facing problems from a perspective of victory, knowing that you have been set free. “But how do I overcome temptation in a practical way?”
Galatians 5:16 says “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh”.
To overcome temptation, feed your Spirit: spend quality time with Jesus, read your Bible, and surround yourself with stuff and people that help you grow your faith.
This simple verb appears 412 times in the Bible. For example, James 1:19 says “be quick to listen” and it is also a very common verb in the book of Proverbs.
Besides, “to listen” is placed next to the verb “to obey” in some Bible verses (Luke 11.28: “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it”).
There are a lot of stories that tell us about the consequences of listening to God and not listening to Him.
As we can see, listening is not only a spiritual thing, but a practical attitude to improve every day: it is the very beginning of everything, especially relationships.
Not everyone has the ability “to lend an ear” and actually pay attention! Listening can also test our patience, which is a fruit of the Spirit.
Dr. David Jeremiah dedicated a full inspiring book on Galatians 5:22-23.
By reading “A Life Beyond Amazing: 9 Decisions That Will Transform Your Life Today”, you will learn about the nine qualities of your character that can affect your relationships positively with yourself, other people, and Christ Himself.
Besides, it explains how to live the fruits of the Spirit out in this world today, and live as an active Christian.
Changing can be a really hard process, especially if you won’t let Jesus help you. Remember that God knows you and cares about you deeply.
The Bible talks about your true identity and how your life can be transformed. Besides, Scripture exhorts us to be better a better person and guides us in this process.
This Book is Christ’s written legacy, so start discovering your new self and be the revolution you want to see in this world. Hosea once said: “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:16).
The devil does not want you to discover your identity in Christ because he knows he would not have a grip on you. The only thing you have to do as a follower of Christ is to imitate Him.
Don’t waste your time waiting for something to happen: the world is waiting for you!
