Growing your faith in the Lord is an ongoing process that never ends. Just like a seed, once you plant faith in your heart and mind, it sprouts and develops day by day.
However, failure to cultivate and weed the seedling will lead to poor growth or eventual death of the plant.
Similarly, for your faith to grow, you need to put extra effort. Colossians 2:7 states that:” Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him.
Your faith will become stronger in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Faith is paramount if you intend to achieve the above. The big question is how or what should you do to grow strong in faith? Take a look at the eight practices below which are keys to strengthening your faith in the Lord:
Use the word to Grow Your Faith In The Lord
Invest much of your time in reading the scriptures. Read your Bible and start doing what it says. Gradually, you will notice your faith sprout.
One of the renown Brothers in Christ, Kenneth Hagin once said that “Faith commences where God’s will is known”.Once you feed your spiritual life by knowing the will of God, your faith will grow stronger and richer.
According to Psalms 34:8, the word of God is alive and sweet for those who have tasted it. It is like food that will nourish our souls.
Our faith in the Lord activates the word in our lives. John 14:26 further encourages us to allow the Holy Spirit into our lives as a helper who reminds us what to apply in our day to day activities to strengthen our Faith.
Apply your faith in Actions Grows your faith in the Lord
James 2:17 tells us that faith without actions is dead. You should know that what you do in life is a reflection of what you have learned (John 8:38). As a Christian, your greatest desire should be to have your actions reflect God’s instructions.
Faith and deeds should work together since it is a team effort where actions unleash our Faith to the real world.
James 2:22 says “…..His actions made His faith complete….” Proverbs 24:12 puts some sense into our lives by implying that we shall be rewarded for the actions we take and consequences if we don’t.
Once you become committed to bringing glory and honor to God’s name through your deeds, success automatically follows your lead. According to Revelation 22:12, you will be paid for your faithful actions in the end of times.
Preach or Speak out your Faith
The scripture in 2 Corinthians tells us that in the same spirit of faith that Paul spoke, we also speak because we do have faith and believe in it.
There are also times when as a Christian, you will speak out about things or occurrences of faith before you witness them in the real world.
We should know that boldness in our faith is the key to doors of opportunity in our life. By speaking our faith, we not only show our boldness in the faith but also spread it to other people who might benefit in their spiritual life.
Romans 4:17 and 1 Timothy 3:13 teach us more about speaking boldly about our faith in Christ, a quality we can only achieve by spreading the Gospel well.
Keep your faith free from Negativity
The author of “Christ the Healer”, F.F Bosworth, said that both faith and doubt cannot co-exist in the same house.
Brother Hagin often made the statement that we should feed our faith to starve our doubts.
The Bible expounds on this topic through James 1:6 which states that:” It must be only in faith that he asks without hesitating.”
When you part ways with doubt, or negativity in this case, in your life, you have opened the door to unlimited opportunities.
We should ask ourselves a simple question; How do we get rid of negativity? James 4:7 fully answers this question by stating that:” Submit your lives to God. Resist the devil and he will leave you”
Believe the impossible to be Possible
Your daily slogan should be”Nothing is Impossible”. As a Christian, you should never allow the fear of the unknown to mitigate you from doing what seems impossible yet it is possible in reality.
Luke 1:37 tells us that with God in our Heart, nothing is impossible in the World.
Again, Hebrews 11:6 reveals that you need faith to please God and let Him into your life. This is what we learn from the book of Jeremiah 17:10.
By seeking God and letting him into our lives, we not only find the impossible things possible but also build on our faith.
Share your Faith with others
Philemon 1:6 reveals to us that as we share our faith with others, we gradually come to realize how blessed we are.
The scripture tells us that our duty in spreading the Gospel is telling people who God is and what He has done.
Witnessing His miracles is one of the ways we can share our faith. Let other people know what God has done unto your life and you will strengthen your faith in the process.
Psalms 34:3 states that:” Magnify the Lord with me, and let’s exalt His mighty name together”
We are being motivated to share our faith with our fellow Christians which is the only way to praise and exalt the Almighty God’s name. We can only thank God for doing according to his word.
Discuss our Faith in the Lord
God created an instruction guide for each person to undergo and thrive in any circumstance and life problem. 2
Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that each Scripture bears some inspiration from God. He uses scripture to guide our daily lives.
To reinforce our faith in Him, we need to discuss our life with Him by reading the scriptures to learn what He has to say concerning our situation.
This point is strongly related to our last point below since prayer is one of the ways we can talk to God.
Be strong in Prayer
Last but not least, we should be very strong in prayer. Pray to God asking him for strength in faith. 1 John 5:14-16 encourages us to pray with confidence that God will answer our prayers.
Also, 1 Chronicles 16:11, which states that” Look up to the Lord for His strength and seek His face Always “motivates us to pray for God’s graces.
Prayer also keeps us away from evil forces, which weaken our faith in the Lord. I will conclude by leaving a wise quote by Mathew Barnett which states that: “Faith is believing that God will take you places even before you get there”
Having faith in the Lord is the only way we shall see His kingdom in our life after death. Strengthen your faith for the devil is always after the Faithful to lure them into his evil World.
