What do you pray when you believe in God but struggle to trust Him with what comes next?
You may be facing a setback, waiting for an answer, or feeling worn down by doubt. You can bring that struggle honestly to Jesus: “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief” (Mark 9:24, KJV).
These 31 prayer points for faith pair KJV Scripture with heartfelt prayers for real struggles. Choose the prayer you need today, or pray one each day as a 31-day faith journey.
How to Use These Prayer Points for Faith.
Go to the printable 31-day checklist
Scripture quotations are from the KJV; some are excerpts. The reflections and prayers are original devotional writing.
Take the 31-Day Faith Challenge. Pray one prayer each day for a month. Read the verse slowly, pray the prayer aloud, then sit quietly for a moment with God.
Or go straight to your need. The prayers are grouped into five parts:
- Part 1: When Your Faith Feels Weak (1–5)
- Part 2: When Life Is Hard (6–10)
- Part 3: Trusting God’s Plan and Timing (11–15)
- Part 4: Standing on God’s Promises (16–21)
- Part 5: Living Out Your Faith (22–31)
Make each prayer your own with the ABC of Prayer:
- A — Address God as your faithful Father.
- B — Bring Him your specific situation. Name it.
- C — Communicate: pray honestly, then pause and listen as He speaks through His Word.
Part 1: When Your Faith Feels Weak.
1. A Prayer for Stronger Faith.
“Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” — Mark 9:24, KJV
A father brings both belief and uncertainty to Jesus while seeking help for his son. His honesty gives us language for prayer when confidence feels fragile. Begin with the faith you have; you do not need to hide your questions before asking Christ for help.
Prayer: Father, I believe in You, but You know the places where my faith is thin. I won’t pretend to be stronger than I am. Help my unbelief. Take the little faith I have and grow it into a deep, steady trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Name one area where trusting God feels difficult, and bring it to Him in one honest sentence.
2. A Prayer to Conquer Doubt.
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” — James 1:6, KJV
James is speaking about asking God for wisdom in trials. His warning challenges divided allegiance, rather than teaching that every anxious feeling disqualifies a prayer. Bring your questions to God and ask for wisdom to act faithfully while they remain unresolved.
Prayer: Lord, I’m tired of being tossed back and forth. When doubts rise, remind me of who You are and what You’ve already done. Anchor my heart in Your faithfulness, not in my circumstances or my emotions. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Write down one question troubling you, then ask a trusted Christian to read James 1:2–8 with you.
3. A Prayer to Walk by Faith, Not by Sight.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7, KJV
Paul connects walking by faith with hope beyond our present, mortal life. Trust in Christ gives direction even when present circumstances do not explain everything. Faith does not require ignoring evidence or wise counsel; it calls us to live in light of God’s promises.
Prayer: Father, I can’t see how this will turn out, and that frightens me. Teach me to take the next step even when I can’t see the one after it. Let my trust rest on Your character, not on what my eyes can measure. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Identify one responsible next step you can take without knowing the whole outcome.
4. A Prayer for Mountain-Moving Faith.
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” — Matthew 17:20, KJV
Jesus speaks after His disciples were unable to help a suffering boy. The picture of a mustard seed directs their attention to dependence on God, not impressive spiritual confidence. We can ask boldly without treating faith as a technique that forces a particular result.
My first pastorate was in Antigua, and it came with a mountain: two church buildings in a state of disrepair, and no financial help from the organization. But with God’s help, both buildings were renovated. I’ve never forgotten what He can do with a congregation that simply trusts Him.
Prayer: Lord, there’s a mountain in front of me: [name it]. My faith feels as small as a mustard seed, but I place it in You, the God who is great. Move what only You can move, and help me trust You while I wait. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Name your ‘mountain,’ then distinguish what you can responsibly do from what you must entrust to God.
5. A Prayer to Believe God for the Impossible.
“With God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26, KJV
Jesus is answering His disciples’ question about who can be saved after His encounter with a wealthy man. The passage points first to God’s saving power where human ability falls short. Bring seemingly impossible needs before Him while leaving the outcome in His hands.
Prayer: Father, I’ve been looking at this situation through human eyes, and it looks hopeless. Lift my eyes to You. Nothing is too hard for You. Give me faith to keep praying, keep hoping, and keep trusting, even when every human answer has run out. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Read Matthew 19:16–26 and turn one insight about God’s grace into a prayer.
Part 2: When Life Is Hard.
6. A Prayer for Faith in Difficult Times.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1, KJV
This psalm describes upheaval while declaring God a refuge for His people. His presence is not a promise that trouble will disappear immediately. It gives us someone to turn to for strength, including while we receive practical support from others.
Prayer: Father, this season is hard, and some days I don’t know how I’ll get through. Be my refuge today. Be my strength when mine is gone. Help me believe that You are here with me right now, not just somewhere ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Ask one trusted person for a specific form of help with today’s burden.
7. A Prayer to Overcome Fear With Faith.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV
Paul encourages Timothy to serve faithfully without shrinking back in shame. Power, love, and a sound mind equip him for that calling. Feeling afraid is not proof that God has abandoned you; courage can mean taking a wise step while fear is still present.
Prayer: Lord, fear has been louder than my faith lately. I bring You the things that frighten me: [name them]. Replace my anxious thoughts with Your peace. Fill me with Your power, Your love, and a sound mind. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Choose one small act of courage, such as making a needed call or asking for support.
8. A Prayer for Faith to Endure Hardship.
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” — James 1:4, KJV
James connects tested faith with endurance and growing maturity. This does not make suffering pleasant or require remaining in a harmful situation. Ask God to shape your response while you seek appropriate help and take necessary steps toward safety and relief.
Prayer: Father, I want this trial to be over. But while I wait, do Your work in me. Grow patience where I’m restless and strength where I’m weak. Don’t let this hardship make me bitter. Let it make me more like Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Identify one habit of patience to practice today without neglecting a needed boundary.
9. A Prayer for Faith When You Feel Rejected.
“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” — Psalm 27:10, KJV
David expresses confidence in God’s care even when the closest human relationships fail. The verse gives a wounded person a place to bring grief, rather than a demand to dismiss it. God’s care can also reach us through trustworthy people who welcome and support us.
Prayer: Lord, rejection has wounded me deeply. Heal the places where I feel unwanted. Remind me that You have taken me up and called me Your own. Let Your love, not other people’s opinions, define who I am. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Reach out to a safe friend, pastor, or support group instead of carrying rejection alone.
10. A Prayer to Stay Strong in Trials.
“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33, KJV
Jesus speaks of peace in Himself alongside the reality of tribulation. His victory is the foundation of Christian hope, not a promise that each trial will end as we prefer. Pray for endurance and faithful action even when the situation remains painful.
Prayer: Jesus, You told us we would face trouble, and here it is. Help me be of good cheer, not because life is easy, but because You have already won. Keep my faith steady, and help me follow You whatever the outcome of this situation. In Your name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Write down one way to remain faithful today that does not depend on your circumstances improving.
Part 3: Trusting God’s Plan and Timing.
11. A Prayer to Trust God’s Plans.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” — Jeremiah 29:11, KJV
These words were addressed to exiles facing a long wait, not an immediate return home. The surrounding passage calls them to build, plant, and seek their city’s welfare while they wait. Let that context encourage patient faithfulness rather than a timetable for personal success.
Prayer: Father, my life hasn’t gone the way I planned. But You know the thoughts You think toward me, and they are thoughts of peace. Help me trust Your plan more than my own. Give me hope for the future You’re preparing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Choose one constructive responsibility to attend to while you wait for a larger change.
12. A Prayer to Trust God’s Timing.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV
Ecclesiastes names life’s changing seasons, including loss as well as joy. It does not give us a schedule for when a specific request will be answered. We can acknowledge disappointment, discern what this season requires, and ask for patience without becoming passive.
Prayer: Lord, I’ve been waiting a long time for [name it], and I’m weary. Teach me to rest in Your timing. Keep me from running ahead of You or giving up too soon. Help me trust that You are working even when I can’t see it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Separate your concern into ‘action I can take now’ and ‘outcome I cannot control.’
13. A Prayer to Accept God’s Will.
“Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” — Luke 22:42, KJV
In Gethsemane, Jesus expresses His desire honestly while submitting to the Father. Surrender makes room for anguish; it is not pretending that a painful outcome is easy. We can ask specifically and still pray for grace to follow God when the answer differs from our hopes.
Prayer: Father, You know what I want, and I’ve told You honestly. But I want Your will even more. If Your answer is different from mine, give me grace to accept it and trust that Your way is best. Not my will, but Yours be done. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Name both what you desire and one faithful response you can make if the answer is different.
14. A Prayer for Faith to Step Into the Unknown.
“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” — Hebrews 11:8, KJV
Abraham’s journey begins with God’s call and a response of obedience. His example encourages trust, but it does not make every impulse a divine instruction. Consider a new direction through Scripture, wise counsel, and the responsibilities already entrusted to you.
I know a little of what that feels like. After a year spent stabilizing a struggling country church in Guyana, I resigned from that organization and returned home to Barbados. There I started Maranatha Christian Fellowship. It began with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and me. I also opened Heavenly Manna Bookstore with just four books. Neither looked like much at the start. But God was already there.
Prayer: Lord, You’re calling me into something new, and I don’t know where it leads. Like Abraham, help me obey even when I don’t have all the answers. Go before me, and give me courage for each step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Discuss the new step with a trusted adviser and identify one practical preparation.
15. A Prayer to Trust God Completely.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5, KJV
Proverbs calls us to trust the LORD rather than make our limited understanding the final authority. Read with verse 6, this means acknowledging Him throughout our decisions. Trust can include careful thought, learning, and counsel offered with humility.
Prayer: Father, I’ve been leaning on my own understanding, and it isn’t holding me up. I choose to trust You with all my heart: my family, my finances, my future, and my fears. Lead me in the way I should go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Bring one decision to prayer and write down the facts and counsel you still need.
Part 4: Standing on God’s Promises.
16. A Prayer to Hold On to God’s Promises.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” — Hebrews 10:23, KJV
The surrounding verses connect holding fast to hope with encouraging one another and gathering together. Perseverance is not meant to be a solitary effort. God’s faithfulness steadies us, and Christian community helps us remember it.
Prayer: Father, You have never broken a promise. When I’m tempted to let go of hope, remind me that You are faithful. Help me hold fast to Your Word without wavering, because You are worthy of my trust. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Send a specific word of encouragement to someone whose hope is wearing thin.
17. A Prayer to Stand on God’s Word.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” — Matthew 24:35, KJV
Jesus speaks these words while teaching His disciples about events they do not yet understand. His words remain trustworthy amid uncertainty. Standing on Scripture means listening carefully to its context, rather than attaching a promise to any outcome we want.
Prayer: Lord, so much in my life feels uncertain right now. Plant my feet firmly on Your Word. When I’m shaken, bring Your promises to my mind. Make Scripture the foundation I build my life on. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Read a short Bible passage with its surrounding verses and record one truth to practice.
18. A Prayer for Faith in God’s Provision.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19, KJV
Paul thanks believers who shared generously in his needs, in a chapter that also describes hunger and contentment. God’s provision is not a guarantee of wealth or immediate financial relief. Pray honestly for necessities and wisdom to recognize practical assistance.
I’ve seen this firsthand. While I was pastoring in Antigua, there were two separate times when my cupboards were empty. Both times, the Lord provided. He is the same God today.
Prayer: Father, You know my needs better than I do: [name them]. I trust You as my provider. Calm my worries about money and tomorrow. Give me what I need, and make me generous with what You give. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: List your most urgent need and one trustworthy source of practical help you can contact.
19. A Prayer for Faith in God’s Healing Power.
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5, KJV
Isaiah describes the suffering servant bearing sin and bringing peace; Christians understand this through Jesus’ saving work. We may ask sincerely for physical healing without treating the verse as a guarantee of recovery. Continuing medical care and receiving support are compatible with faith.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Healer. I bring You [name the need]. Touch what is broken and give wisdom to everyone caring for me. Whatever the outcome, help me trust Your love and rest in the healing You won for me on the cross. In Your name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Name the healing need in prayer and take one appropriate care step, such as keeping an appointment.
20. A Prayer for Faith in God’s Protection.
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.” — Isaiah 54:17, KJV
This promise belongs to a passage about God’s restoration and the vindication of His servants. It should not be read as immunity from injury, injustice, or grief. We ask for protection while also acting wisely and seeking help when danger is real.
Prayer: Father, You are my protector. Guard me and my family from harm, seen and unseen. When I feel vulnerable, remind me that I am held in Your hands and no weapon formed against me will have the final word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Take one practical safety step for yourself or your family alongside your prayer.
21. A Prayer for Faith Against Spiritual Attack.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11, KJV
Paul describes standing firm with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, God’s Word, and persistent prayer. The passage calls for spiritual steadiness rather than suspicion of other people. Resist lies through truth and respond to conflict without treating people as the enemy.
Prayer: Lord, I put on Your armor today: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and Your Word. Raise up my shield of faith against every lie and accusation of the enemy. Help me stand firm in Your strength, not my own. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Identify one accusation troubling you and answer it with a carefully understood biblical truth.
Part 5: Living Out Your Faith.
22. A Prayer to Live by Faith Every Day.
“The just shall live by faith.” — Romans 1:17, KJV
Paul places this statement within his announcement of the gospel and God’s righteousness. Faith shapes both our confidence in Christ and the ordinary conduct that follows. Small acts of honesty, mercy, and dependability can express trust in Him.
Prayer: Lord, let my faith show up in my everyday life: in how I work, how I speak, and how I treat people. Make my life a reflection of my trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Choose one ordinary task and do it with particular honesty, care, or kindness.
23. A Prayer to Seek God First.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33, KJV
Jesus speaks about food, clothing, and the Father’s knowledge of our needs. Seeking His kingdom redirects our priorities; it is not a bargain for possessions or a trouble-free life. Ask what faithfulness looks like in today’s use of time and resources.
Prayer: Father, I confess that other things have crowded You out. Today I put You first, before my plans, my worries, and my wants. Order my priorities around Your kingdom, and teach me to trust You with the rest. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Review today’s commitments and make room for one act of service or prayer.
24. A Prayer for Faith to Resist Temptation.
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” — Matthew 26:41, KJV
Jesus speaks to disciples who struggled to stay awake with Him in Gethsemane. Their weakness shows why willing intentions need prayer and watchfulness. Faithful resistance includes practical boundaries and seeking accountability.
Prayer: Lord, You know where I’m most easily tempted. Keep me alert and close to You. When temptation comes, give me strength to turn away and faith to believe that obeying You is always better. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Remove one avoidable trigger and tell a trusted person where you need accountability.
25. A Prayer for Bold Faith.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” — Proverbs 28:1, KJV
This proverb contrasts the fear accompanying wrongdoing with the confidence of the righteous. Biblical courage serves truth and love; it is not aggression or a refusal to listen. Ask for the courage to do right with humility.
Prayer: Father, I’ve been timid when I should have been bold. Give me courage to speak of You, stand for what is right, and live without shame for the gospel. Make me bold as a lion, and gentle as Your Son. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Prepare one truthful, gentle sentence for a conversation you have been avoiding.
26. A Prayer to Keep Your Eyes on Jesus.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2, KJV
Hebrews pictures a race requiring endurance and directs our attention to Jesus, who endured the cross. Looking to Him means remembering His example and keeping going with His help. It does not require denying the difficulties around us.
Prayer: Jesus, the waves around me are loud, and I keep looking at them. Turn my eyes back to You. You started my faith, and You will finish it. Keep my gaze on You today. In Your name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Read Hebrews 12:1–3 and set aside one distraction that is hindering a faithful priority.
27. A Prayer for Faith That Pleases God.
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6, KJV
Hebrews presents faith as approaching God in trust and seeking Him earnestly. The chapter also includes faithful people who suffered without receiving deliverance in this life. Seeking God is a relationship, not a transaction promising earthly success.
Prayer: Father, I want my life to bring You joy. I believe that You are, and that You reward those who seek You. Help me seek You diligently, not out of duty, but out of love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Spend a few minutes seeking God without asking for an achievement or possession.
28. A Prayer for Faith to Fulfill Your Purpose.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13, KJV
Paul has learned contentment in both abundance and need. Christ’s strength sustains faithfulness across those conditions, rather than guaranteeing success in every ambition. Purpose can be lived through quiet responsibilities as well as visible opportunities.
Prayer: Lord, I want to live the life You created me for. Where I feel unqualified, be my strength. Whether in plenty or in need, help me be faithful in what You’ve given me to do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Identify one responsibility already in your care and complete one manageable part of it.
29. A Prayer for Faith to Strengthen Others.
“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” — Luke 22:32, KJV
Jesus anticipates Peter’s failure and also his return to service. Restoration includes strengthening others, rather than pretending failure never happened. Share encouragement with humility and respect for another person’s experience.
Prayer: Lord, use what You’ve brought me through to encourage someone else. Show me who needs a word of faith today. Let my testimony point people to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Encourage one person with a brief, honest account of what helped you keep trusting God.
30. A Prayer for Faith That Overcomes.
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” — 1 John 5:4, KJV
The next verse identifies the one who overcomes as the person who believes Jesus is the Son of God. This victory concerns belonging to Christ and resisting the world’s claims on our allegiance. It is deeper than winning every dispute or avoiding hardship.
Prayer: Father, thank You that I am born of You. When the pressures of this world feel overwhelming, remind me that faith in Jesus has already overcome. Help me live today as one who belongs to the winning side. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Identify one pressure to compromise your values and choose a faithful response.
31. A Prayer to Finish Your Race in Faith.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7, KJV
Paul looks back on persevering in his calling as his life draws toward its end. Finishing faithfully is built through repeated dependence on God’s grace, not a flawless record. Today’s prayer can be for the strength to continue with humility and hope.
Prayer: Lord, I don’t just want to start well. I want to finish well. Keep me faithful through every season, from today until the day I see You face to face. Help me fight the good fight, finish my course, and keep the faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Put faith into practice: Write one practice you want to sustain this month and arrange support to keep it.

Your Questions About Faith and Prayer.
How can I increase my faith?
The Bible says “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, KJV). Faith grows as you spend time in Scripture, pray honestly, remember what God has done, and walk with other believers. It’s a daily walk, not a one-time event.
Is it a sin to have doubts?
Doubt is part of the human struggle, and the Bible is full of faithful people who wrestled with it. The father in Mark 9 brought his doubt straight to Jesus, and Jesus helped him. Bring your questions to God rather than hiding them.
What if I pray and nothing seems to change?
Waiting can be painful, and we do not always know why a request remains unanswered. You can tell God about disappointment without pretending to understand it. Jesus encourages persistent prayer in Luke 18:1, while His prayer in Gethsemane shows honest asking and surrender together. Keep seeking wise counsel and taking appropriate practical steps. An unchanged situation is not proof that your faith is inadequate.
A Final Prayer for Unshakable Faith.
Heavenly Father, thank You that my faith doesn’t depend on my strength, but on Your faithfulness. When I’m weak, hold me. When I doubt, remind me of Your promises. When I’m waiting, give me patience. Grow my faith day by day until it’s deeply rooted in You. Help me trust You completely, today and every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
