Prayers for Job Seekers: 15 Powerful

By David •  Updated: 03/01/22 •  10 min read

We often assume that God is only interested in our spiritual lives and does not care about other aspects of our lives.

The truth is many of us don’t involve God in our job search. That’s perhaps why we don’t find it necessary to seek God’s intervention for the right employment.

Scripture tells us that God has given us all that pertains to life and godliness, not only all that pertains to godliness.

He cares for us, and it’s His will and joy that we prosper in all things, even as our souls prosper.

Are you seeking a job? Then you need to invite God into it. I have created prayers for job seekers in this article.

Pray for your employment with them, and you’ll definitely receive an answer because you’ll be praying according to God’s word.

Your word tells me that you will not give me a stone when I ask for bread or a snake when I ask for fish.

Lord, you are a Father who gives liberally to His children according to your riches in glory. I demand before heaven to provide me with the job specifically prepared for me.

Thank you, dear Lord, for the door of employment you have already opened to me.

  1. Prayer for Employment for a Husband

Psalm 75:6 -7 NIV – No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. 7: It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

Dear Jesus, thank you for having promised that you will provide all our needs according to your riches in glory. Therefore, I receive this promise in thanksgiving for my husband as we trust you to provide him with a great job.

By faith, I declare that you have exalted him and given him a job that he will enjoy, bringing financial stability to our home. Bless and strengthen him as he continues to search and uphold him, that he may not grow weary.

  1. Prayer for Employment for My Son.

Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV: Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Dear Father, all parents desire to see their children settled in every aspect of life. I pray that you grant the heart desire of my beloved son; give him a befitting job.

Lord, you know how hard he studied to graduate with the excellent grade he came out with. So now, I ask that you crown his efforts with an equally incredible job, one that will be to the amazement of all, especially his peers.

As you do, Lord, please help him stay humble and constantly remind him it was you who did it and no one else.

In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

  1. Prayer for Employment Opportunities.

Psalm 42:11 NIV – Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God.

Dear Jehovah Jireh, you are the one who opens a door, and no man can shut; you shut, and no man can open. The scripture also tells me that the earth is yours and its fullness thereof.

So Great God, I pray for great doors of employment opportunities to open unto me from the east, west, north, and south.

Make your grace abound bountifully for me from every side until I land the perfect job.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

          Prayer for Full-time Employment.

2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV – Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly, we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

Glorious God, your word tells us that anyone who does not work should not eat.

Sadly, I’ve not been able to find any meaningful full-time employment for so long now. I’m very tired of having to put up with part-time jobs that don’t give me any satisfaction.

Dear God, I long to be gainfully employed in full-time time employment where I’ll advance in my career. By the mercies of heaven, please grant me this kind of job to the glory of your name.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Prayer for Good Employment.

1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Omniscient God, you are the God of incredible wonders because I’ve tested your power and seen that you are indeed a good God. Thank you because every perfect gift comes from you.

Gracious God, there’s no impossibility with you because your word also tells me that to him that believes nothing shall be impossible. Therefore, I ask that you speak possibility into my life and bless me with a good job.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

  1. Prayer for New Employment.

Isaiah 43:19 NIV – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Loving God, you know how much I need new employment. It seems I’ve overstayed my welcome in my current job.

Therefore, dear God, please bless me with a new job that’s much better than the one I have right now, and I’ll be mindful to return all the glory to you.

Thank you, dear Jesus, because I believe you have granted my heart’s desire concerning a new job.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Prayer for Success in Employment.

1 Timothy 6:17 NIV – Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Precious Father, your word tells me that he that asks receives. Hence, I believe that I’ll be successful in my job hunt because I have asked.

Make your grace abound for me to find the best employment ever. As you grant this request, I will ascribe all the glory to your name.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Conclusion

As a job seeker, you need the help and wisdom of God to guide you through the processes of searching and applying for a job; because on your own, you can do nothing.

Hence, you must trust the Lord in prayers to direct your path instead of relying only on your strength and abilities.
