Every Christian is constantly faced with temptation.

The devil finds our weakest points and uses them against us, seducing God’s children to rebel against God. It’s his master plan right from the beginning.

However, it’s good to note that temptation is not a sin (Hebrews 4:15); there’s a massive distinction between temptation and sin.

It is a temptation that leads to sin. However, your ability to resist temptation makes you victorious against sin and pleasing to God.

Jesus faced temptations but never gave in to them. Though temptation can be difficult to overcome, prayers to resist temptation will help you come out victorious.

1. Prayer to Resist a Temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) – No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so you can stand up under it.

Merciful God, thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me a second chance even though I don’t deserve it.

I appreciate you also for not abandoning me despite my many wrongdoings. Please have mercy on me for the times I have allowed the devil to use me.

Abba Father, I ask that you give me the strength to resist temptation and tower over sins.
