God is the great provider. I’m sure you’ve read and known that for as long as you’ve been a Christian, right?

Well, how come there are times God seems to be silent about your needs? Could it be that you are being punished for your sins? I don’t think so. Or perhaps, He has disowned you? Not a chance.

You see, from the days of Abraham, God has been an incredible provider. The bible recalls in Genesis 22:14 that He is the Jehovah Jireh – the God that provides.

Paul the Apostle also affirmed to the Philippians in Philippians 4:19 that “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

These tell us that God in His infinite riches will always provide for His children. Regardless of the situation, you’re in right now, remember God is the Jehovah Jireh.

  1. God Provides in the form of Exceptional Ideas.

When we ask God to give us something, He might not give us that exact thing as we asked, but something better.

For instance, if you lost your job and prayed for another job, God may give you exceptional ideas that will turn you into an entrepreneur.

Now, between working for someone and being your own boss, which would you prefer?

Truth is, one great idea is all you need to become a millionaire – One. Great. Idea! James 1:17 tells us that “every good and perfect gift comes from God”.

So, in troubled times, instead of expecting God to provide a specific thing, be sensitive enough to exceptional ideas that’d transform your life.

  1. Through His Words from the Scriptures.

Have you ever flipped the bible when you’re down only to land on a passage that is speaking directly to you?

Maybe yours might not be by chance, it could be during your morning devotional or church service.

It doesn’t matter what you’re going through, God’s word is a suiting relief to that troubled times.

The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

This means, His word is always there to brighten every dark corner of your lives. Your feet is illuminated and your path is made easy.

  1. Through Inspirational Words.

Sometimes, all we need to come out of that troubled times is some inspirational words, either from someone, a book, or a tape. What is the role of God in this? You may want to ask.

Well, God puts a person in your life in a way that he/she either says some inspirational words to you or reads it out to you from a book.

Sometimes, the person does not even know what he/she had just said meant something spectacular to you; whether they are aware or not, God uses people, books, and tapes to inspire you.

You may not see the need, but most times, all we need to snap out of that troubled time is a flash of inspiration on what to do at that particular time.

  1. Through Emotional Support.

There is no other time emotional support is more needed than in troubled times. You see, you cannot deal with your demons in isolation.

That is why I love the saying that, “a problem shared is a problem half solved”.

When you find someone you can really count on, you can pour out your frustration on them, and you will feel much better, even by the fact that they listened to you.

During troubled times, God provides us that right person who is willing to listen and encourage you back on track.

  1. Through Music.

Through the ages, music has proven to be the medicine for the soul. Even in the bible when King Saul’s soul was troubled, it was music that helped him.

1 Samuel 16:23 recalls, “Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.”

Today, we have a lot of spirit-inspired songs that can help relieve us of troubled times. Music is powerful, and God inspires some music artists for such a time as this.

  1. Through Total Strangers.

Have you ever seen a stranger worked up to you and gave you just what you needed during a bad time? If you have, I’m sure you know what a surprising relief that is.

If you haven’t experienced that, I can tell you it does happen because I have experienced it countless times.

Just as God speaks to us in different ways, He also provides for us in ways we cannot fathom. But most times, we are the ones who do not recognize the stranger’s God sends to bless us during troubled times.

Remember Sarah, Abraham’s wife? Have you ever imagined what would have happened if she wasn’t kind to the strangers that soon became the Angels God sent to them? This still happens today.

  1. Divine Peace in Chaos through the Holy Spirit.

One way God provides for us during troubled times is by giving us that calm and peaceful state of mind in the midst of the storm.

This is very critical because, when you are tensed, you can hardly think your way out of any situation, but when you are calm and at peace, your mind can work better.

Jesus tells us this in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Conclusion

These 7 ways God provides in troubled times may not come all at once, but when you open your heart in total trust to God that He does provide as He promised, one or more of the above will surely happen to you.

In closing, I would like to affirm God’s words to us from Deuteronomy 31:6b, “…I will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Every Christian will ask himself or herself at least once in their Christian walk, how he/she can grow their faith. We will do well to remember that whatever doesn’t grow dies.

Matthew 17:20 tells us that faith as small as a mustard seed allows us to accomplish great things.  The mustard seed is very small but grows into one of the biggest trees known. The measure or amount of faith one has is therefore not a measure of what they can achieve.

“Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things-with resignations, yes, but above all, with blazing, serene hope,” Corazon Aquino.

It is stated in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (New Revised Standard Version). We often say “seeing is believing” but faith is about believing without seeing as we see in the verse quoted.

How we grow our faith in God is dependent on the following:

1. The hearing of the Word of God.

Faith has an origin which is the word of God. As we hear of God’s doings, faith develops.  “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Romans 10:17

2. Constantly ask and expect things in the realm of faith.

  In the realm of the physical sense, the enemy will overpower you as you will walk by sight and not by faith.  Faith is not physically tangible; hence it cannot be grasped in the physical sense. Pray in faith.

Ask for the impossible and expect it to be possible.  Matthew 19: 26 …For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” (New Revised Standard Version)  Carry within yourself the sense that you’re dealing with a God who specializes in making what’s impossible possible.

3. Keep a journal of the victories God has given you.

When the Israelites came out of Egypt, God asked them, to continually speak of what God had done for them. When we expect and receive things as a result of faith, we should make sure we remember.

Write down each victory for future reference.This will help your faith be strong the next time you pray. It will continually give you the conviction that God is still able to do it for you.

4. Do not forsake the meeting together of the brethren.

Jesus gave a parable of the man who left the 99 sheep to go look for the one. Faith grows cold if it cannot draw heat from fellow believers.  The Bible continues to say that people should not forsake the meeting together of brethren.

If one does not fellowship with fellow brethren, the faith will lose its fire and eventually die. It is like removing one coal from the fire, it quickly goes out.

5. Endure discomforting situations.

Most of us we have a flight tendency in all situations that make us uncomfortable. However, we should realize tests are sent to make the Christian strong.

Growth is facilitated by difficult situations that may require you to endure to the end. If we resist difficult situations, we resist growth. Growth is necessary for your faith to have endurance and to be strong.

Every time you quit a situation, you fail a faith test. What you haven’t passed prevent you from accessing the next level of your faith.

6. Continually take actions of faith.

Faith is exercised in how you tackle various situations.  You must continually make sure you exercise faith even in small issues. That’s how you develop muscle to face bigger issues when they arise.

A weight lifter doesn’t lift weights on the day of the competition but continually trains his body. You cannot expect to do easily what you haven’t practiced before.

Even though faith is a conviction of things not seen, it’s as practical as it can get. Get practical with your faith and you will get your reward.

God rewards actions of faith, no matter how small.  James 1:23-25 states that a doer who acts will be blessed in his faith. Do not wait for insurmountable problems to act on your faith, act now!

7. Resist responding to things in fear.

Situations will always arise that will require you to respond. It is important how you react to situations, either by fear of faith. Fear is not of God; always respond from a position of faith.

Furthermore, every promise of God to his children is attained only through faith. If you have faith, you please God and you are assured of a reaction in heaven. Hence we can safely say that faith is the currency of heaven.

8. Move past the feelings of fear.

We all experience fear whether we admit it or not. These feelings come as a barricade to what lies beyond. Only faith can access the possibilities beyond, but you must overcome the fear first.

As you meet each challenge, you will have to resist fear, avoid walking in the flesh and doubt. However, let’s not forget that faith is a defensive weapon.

It works against the enemy according to Ephesians 6:16. ‘ With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one”. (New Revised Standard Version).

9. Put your faith in action.

James 2:14,“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?.”  Words are not enough to show your faith. Actions  testify whether you have faith or not.

An act of faith is pertinent if you are to say you are a woman/man of faith. Accompany what you say with what you do and you shall soar in faith.

10. Demonstrate an unwavering position in the mind.

For you to be a champion of faith, you must see yourself victorious. When Peter walked on water, he began to sink when he started considering what was around him.

Resist the urge to consider the negative circumstances around you and you shall see your faith bear fruit. The mind will always react to what the eyes see. Our sight gives the mind a visual of what’s around us, but we can choose to walk by faith and not by sight.

11. Step out in obedience.

At times, you will be required to obey God’s word when you would rather not. However, obedience is an important element in growing one’s faith. It may not be popular but God’s word operates in the obedience to it.

Remember faith is not verbal; faith is what you put in action for faith without actions is dead. You won’t show obedience by knowledge of God’s word, but by what you do with the word of God.

  Genesis 22:1-3. “After these things God tested Abraham”. He said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.”

Abraham is considered the Father of Faith. He journeyed to an unknown place because God told him to go. He was willing to sacrifice his very promise to please God.

12. Be willing to pay the price.

Any time you dare to do something in faith, someone will try to show you how impossible it is. Faith is not popular and it will not be the craze with those around you.

Most of the times it is a personal journey that you have to take by yourself. You will pay the price of looking like a fool, but you will rejoice once your faith is rewarded. Keep the faith at all cost! Do not be disheartened by others.

The more you grow in faith, the easier and more exciting it becomes to operate in it. You have much more to gain by growing your faith, soldier on!

These are the ways that will help you grow in your faith. It isn’t a light task because of the very nature of faith which is unseen. However, it is not impossible as all you need is faith as small as a mustard seed.

In Hebrews 11 it speaks of how the champions of faith subdued nations, obtained good reports and received their promises and much more.

These were people who dared to believe the impossible and they did attain it nevertheless. Joseph, for instance, requested them to take his bones with them when God delivered them from Egypt.

This was a promise attained 430 years later, an indication that faith doesn’t fail, irrespective of time. If you follow the above points then it shall not be difficult to grow your faith. But as everything else that grows, give it time and exercise patience and you will see undeniable results.

How to read the Bible for beginners – where to start

Even though the Bible is full of stories, you shouldn’t read it as an anthology. This is to mean you don’t read it cover to cover as would a novel. You need to have a beginner Bible study plan.

For instance, if you are a new believer or a beginner, it is recommended that you skip the Old Testament books and head over to the gospels.

The gospels are the first four books of the New Testament and they are called that because they document the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

These books are Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John.  Of the four, John is the simplest to read so it would be a great place to begin.

Once you have read through the gospels, you can now read other parts of the scripture remembering to keep Jesus at the center of it.

Once you understand what Jesus came to do as narrated in the gospels, you will literally see him revealed in all the other books of the Bible.

But Paul warns us not to rely on our intellect when reading the word of God. We have to rely on the Holy Spirit to teach us.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned 1 Corinthians 2:14

While it is important to attend church in order to be taught from the word of God, you must also study it for yourself.

The thought of reading 66 books of the Bible might sound overwhelming but there are some awesome Bible study methods that will make it so much easier. These are:

Devotional Method –

There are lots of awesome devotional booklets that you can use to study the Bible. Most devotional entries start with a brief anecdote that relates to a lesson from scripture, the scripture of study for the day, and a prayer.

Some devotionals also include additional passages in case you want to delve deeper into the subject and a Bible reading planner for those targeting to read the Bible in a year. You can get a devotional booklet from your bookstore.

Synthetic Method–

The word synthetic is derived by combining the Greek preposition syn, which means together and the verbal root, “the” which means “to put” The synthetic method, therefore, means to place together or put together. This method will give you a bird’s eye view of the Bible.

To use this method, read a passage, a verse or a book several times until you get the central theme. For instance, you can use this method to figure out the central theme in Colossians is Christ and the Church.

Analytical Method –

The analytical method entails pulling apart sections of a book, a chapter or even a verse in the Bible and then analyzing them in fine detail.

This method will need that you use some study tools like the Strong’s concordance and other relevant Bible dictionaries.

Biographical Method –

This method entails studying the life of a Bible character. A biographical study will consider all events in the life of a character.

For instance, if you used this method to study Jesus, you will consider his birth, his dedication, his baptism, his temptation, his public ministry, his passion, his death, and his resurrection.

You have to be careful when using this method because there are several people in the Bible who had one or more namesakes.

Topical Method –

As the name suggests, the topical method entails taking a topic from the Bible and studying it. The topic may be a theme, a concept or even a phrase from the Bible.

For instance, you may pick the topic of prayer and study everything related to prayer. You may need the help of Bible dictionaries and a concordance.

Practical Method –

This is a very interesting method because it involves looking at the passage in a practical sense. The question you seek to answer when using this method is, “how does this apply to me practically?” This method can be used to study a short passage or even an entire book.

When reading a book of the Bible, it is always a good idea to read it over and over again. Each time you go over a book, you tend to notice things you hadn’t read before.

Unlike other books, you cannot put the Bible back on the shelf even after reading it cover to cover.

This is the only book that never grows old with time and God will always speak to you new things in old passages.

Now, before getting into how to do that, we must first understand what it means from the Bible.

Hebrews 11: 1 says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

 3 Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

As a believer, faith is what enables us to have access to the benefits of the kingdom.

Hebrews 11: 6 says, But without faith, it is impossible to please God; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Below are 12 ways you can live by faith every day.

 

  1. Understand That Faith Birthed You.

The first way to live a life of faith is by knowing how vital it is to God. Faith plays a very central role in our lives as Christians. In fact, it is what birthed us.

‘For by grace are we saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.’ Says Ephesians 2: 8.

As it stands, we were saved by faith; that faith was a gift because we could not have pulled that off on our own.

When God wanted to save us, he did not ask for our permission, he gifted us faith so we could receive the salvation he had prepared for us.

When we walk with the realization that our salvation was gotten by faith, we would realize the immense importance of faith in our walk with God.

We would understand that if faith birthed us, then it is what would sustain us.

  1. Faith Sustains Us.

If faith birthed us, it is only logical that it sustains us. If we didn’t get saved by our good works, why should we expect to sustain our salvation by good works?

Paul, in his epistle to the Galatians, extensively explains, “O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This only would I learn of you, received you the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?” – Galatians 3: 2, 5.

In Paul’s letter to the Galatians, he was trying to remind them about the salvation process. He reminded them – and by extension, us – that faith is the breath of their (our) salvation.

It is expedient that we understand that faith is the fuel that keeps our Christian life aflame and running. Until we understand that, we cannot experience or live by it every day.

  1. Understand That Faith Doesn’t Have To Make Sense.

The mistake that believers often make is expecting faith to always make sense when in truth, nothing about it makes sense.

When Jesus performed his first miracle, it was the instruction of ‘whatever he says unto you, do it,’ given by his mother that paved the way for the miracle.

It did not make sense to the servants to pour water into the water pots and when they drew out of the water, wine came forth. John 2:1-8. KJV

It did not make sense to the disciples that Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fishes. Luke 9: 14 KJV says,  “For they were about five thousand men.

And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company”.

It did not make sense to anybody that a man who had been dead for more than two days would walk out from the tomb looking good as new.

It did not make sense that a woman who had suffered for twelve years with a bleeding problem had been healed just by touching the hem of Jesus’ garment.

None of these things made sense, but they made faith.

Likewise, faith does not have to make sense to you and least of all, to others. It makes sense to God.

It is the language God speaks and understands, therefore to live in faith every day, we have to learn that it doesn’t always make sense.

  1. Understand That Faith And Works Go Hand-In-Hand.

James 2:17-18 says ‘…even so, faith, if it has no works is dead, being alone.

Yeah, many a man may say, thou hast faith and I have works; show me your faith without thy works and I will show thee my faith by thy works.’

Faith is only complete when works/actions go alongside. When living in faith in our daily life, it does not mean we should live with our heads in the cloud, expecting something to happen just because we have faith.

No, everyday faith that produces results is the one where our works/actions are commensurate to our faith.

Until we understand this clear rule, it would be difficult to live by faith every day.

  1. Understand That Faith Is Mandatory.

Faith is compulsory, yes! If we desire to live by faith every day, we must understand it is something mandatory God requires of us.

It is not optional, it is not something we choose sometimes when we feel like, it is not subject to our moods or feelings.

God expects faith to be our first resort and not our last resort. He expects us to think about it as the solution to whatever problem we face. And yes, not just think about it, but live by it.

He expects our lives to be fuelled by faith. This way, it naturally means we live by it every day.

  1. Understand That Faith Grows.

Mark 11: 23 says ‘…for verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea;  and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says.’

Luke 17: 6 says ‘…and  the Lord said, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, be thou plucked up by the root and be thou planted in the sea; and it shall obey you.’

For the believer who wants to live by faith every day, we must understand that faith grows.

During Jesus’s ministry on earth, his disciples often exhibited a lack of faith but when Jesus finally left them and they began their ministry, we saw that there it grew; they went around breaking barriers, performing miracles, and giving glory to God – all thanks to faith.

It literally and gradually became their lifestyle. They no longer lived based on their position or wisdom, rather it became part of them, and consequently, we saw they experienced unimaginable miracles.

Understanding that faith grows like the analogy of the mustard seed Jesus used would enable us to exercise our faith in our everyday living.

Faith matures and as a believer, it is in the exercising of our faith muscles that would enable it to mature.

  1. Apply Faith In Every Area Of Your Life.

As a believer, matured faith means infusing faith into every aspect of your life.

This is another way of living by faith every day. In life, we would face tough choices; choices that would not necessarily mean choosing between good and evil, but choosing between two good things.

Living by faith in our daily dealings would involve us seeking God’s opinion about everything happening around us and in our lives.

Faith does not necessarily mean the quantum leaps we take, but the little things that we involve the all-seeing God in.

When Jesus was about to feed the five thousand people, he did not need to engage in any gimmicks.

He just raised the bread and blessed it, thanking God for making provision and the miracle of multiplication began.

  1. Thanksgiving.

This is often overlooked by many Christians.

Philippians 4: 6 says ‘…be careful  for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.’

Thanksgiving is an outward expression of faith. When we pray and ask God for something, the Bible says we should believe that we receive it.

After believing that we have received, the next step is to thank God for the performance. Thanksgiving is like a seal on the prayers.

It is an outward expression of that belief that we have what we prayed for.

It is one way to live by faith every day. Living by faith means living in thanksgiving. The part of thanksgiving cannot be overemphasized. Jesus lived a life of thanksgiving.

  1. Have Faith in Faith.

Sounds weird, right?

How many times have we heard people say they have faith concerning a thing and when we probe deeper we realize that they just think they have faith but they actually don’t believe that their faith would produce results?

Faith is more than just words, faith is not a cliché, it is not a feel-good message, it is real and tangible.

Faith is seen, it works. Until we understand that faith works, we will never really enjoy living by faith. Until we understand that faith is not a cliché, we would not enjoy its results.

So when you say you have faith concerning a thing, ask yourself deep down if you really do. And if you do, what steps are you taking to augment that faith? What steps are you taking to prove that you believe?

The woman with the issue of blood believed that if she touched the hem of his garment, she would be healed. Her actions were commensurate to her faith and it worked for her.

  1. Know That Faith Always Works.

This sounds a lot like the previous point but it says something slightly different. There are no exceptions in faith. There’s no ‘maybe’ or ‘might’ in faith. Faith births only possibilities, never impossibilities.

Faith gives no room for doubt. There’s no second option when we decide to use faith. This is one way to live by faith every day. Whatever it is you’re exercising your faith on, faith will not fail.

If it doesn’t happen, it’s not faith that failed, it’s you, it’s me, it’s us. Not once in the Bible did anyone exercise faith and it failed them.

So when you’re preparing to exercise faith about a thing, bear in mind that there are no what if’s. It is certain.

  1. Faith and Fear Cannot Co-Exist.

Sometimes we say that fear is the opposite of faith but this isn’t necessarily true.

When Peter began walking on water at Jesus beckoning, he focused on Jesus who was the emblem of faith, however the moment he began to think about the fact that he was actually walking on water, fear crept in and he began to sink.

A believer who wants to live by faith every day must get rid of fear, we must understand that faith and fear cannot coexist. It is either one or the other.

If we decide to pick faith, then we would have to stick with it till the end. We would have to deliberately banish all thoughts of fear and focus on faith. That is the only way we can emerge victoriously.

  1. Faith Is Released By Our Mouth.

We mentioned earlier that faith is matched by actions, however, it is released by words. For every miracle that Jesus performed, there was speaking. He said what he wanted to see.

Romans 4:17 says, ‘As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which be not as though they were.’

For there to be a ‘calling’ that means there must have been a ‘speaking’. Words are spirits. Words are powerful.

The Bible says that the power of life and death is in the tongue. One of the actions that will show that we have faith in the words we speak. We call those things that be not as though they were.

That’s called faith-language.

As we desire to live by faith every day, we should bear in mind that we will not do it all by our strength. We have the Holy Spirit to help us be better each day.

He is our Helper, our Standby and He is committed to seeing us live victoriously.

The Bible also has its own faith definition in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

That being said, one can’t wake up one day and develop faith in someone or something without going through a process.

When one has faith in someone, that faith must be grown to have a better experience and relationship with the person involved.

1. Grow in Faith Through Hearing God’s word.

Romans 10:17 confirms that faith comes from hearing the word of God. It reads “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – NKJV.

In order for us to function as faithful Christians, we first need to be perfected by the word of God. When God’s word nourishes us, we grow in faith.

Hebrews 4:12 also tells that the word of God is “living and operative.”

That means it’s ‘Vital’ – its functions are of life – the divine life. And our receiving such a living and operative word is essential for our faith to grow.

In addition, Psalms 119:130 confirms that the word of God gives light, and when that light is shined upon our life, it helps grow our faith in God.

2. Grow in Faith Through Believing the Word.

Is it possible for one to grow in faith in what he/she doesn’t believe in? I don’t think so, do you? So for Christians to grow in faith, they must believe in every word of God written in the Bible.

We became Christians by hearing and believing God’s Word – believing that Jesus Christ is the son of God and our Lord and Savior.

So if we became Christians by believing the word, don’t you think we can grow in faith by believing that same powerful word?

If the Bible confirms in Timothy 3:16 that all of scripture is given to us by the inspiration from God the Father, then we must do well to believe in the unchanging word of God.

That way, our faith in God will keep growing.


3. Increase your Faith Through Acting on God’s Word

As we all know, it’s one thing to hear and believe and another thing to take action. The fact remains that, we must act if we’re really serious about growing in faith.

The word of God in James 2: 14 says “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? …” – NKJV. Truly, Faith without work is dead!

So for us to grow in faith, we must always act upon God’s word. As you act upon God’s Word, you’re allowing the word to grow and settle in you.

It then becomes active and strong in every aspect of your life, thereby, helping you grow in faith.

4. Grow in Faith by Surrounding yourself with Christian Community.

If you want to take a strong step to grow in your faith, surround yourself with other Christians who feel the same way.

Every Christian needs people who can encourage them, inspire them, or even call them out or correct them.

Adding up, King Solomon’s proverb 27:17 says that “Iron sharpens iron, and one sharpens another.”

So, therefore, it is in our best interest to surround ourselves with those that will sharpen us and help us grow in faith.

5. Grow in Faith by Following Biblical Principles.

A growing faith is obedient faith. Usually, the exercise of faith will be rational in keeping with what God wants to be done.

We must put complete trust in the principles of the Bible and not trust our feelings. Faith is not a blind leap into the dark. Faith is following the light of God’s word.

6. Grow in Faith Through Constant Communion.

If you want to increase your faith you must have constant communion with Jesus Christ. As you spend time in prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with Christ, you will develop our faith more fully.

Jesus recognized that we would become like those you spend our time with – Matthew 10:25. As you spend more time with the Lord, you will become more Christ-like and grow in our faith.

7. Grow in Faith by Sharing Your Life with Unbelievers.

It’s good to surround ourselves with other Christians, with Christian music and culture, go to church, and to Christian concerts. But it’s absurd if we don’t do the work of the Lord; which is sharing our life and gospel to unbelievers.

Not sharing our faith will make us remain stagnant with no hope of growing. If you look at Jesus’ life, he was around the “sinners” all the time sharing the gospel.

Spreading and sharing the gospel will only help us grow stronger in faith.

8. Ask God to Help You Grow in Faith.

Last on the list but not the least, ‘ask God to help you grow in faith’. In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus makes us understand that when we ask, it shall be given unto us.

In 2 Chronicles 1:10 Solomon asked for wisdom and God granted him that and made him the wisest man on the face of the earth.

Do you think God won’t answer you when you ask Him to help you grow in faith? He will surely do that for you.

1 John 5:14 says “Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us”. It’s the will of God for us to grow in faith, it will please Him if we ask him to help us.

According to Romans 12:3, God dealt to every person a measure of faith. Though God has allotted each of us faith, He expects us to grow in faith and never be stagnant.

Romans 1:17 also explains that God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith. Which means, for you to know God deeper, you must grow from faith to faith.

When you increase your faith will never be a quick process. It may take time, but we must make up our minds never to stop growing in faith.

When we grow and live by faith, we draw ourselves closer to God. Then God will be able to use us and cause us to grow in grace.
