How To Pray For A Godly Husband

How To Pray For A Godly Husband

Getting married is easy – but the challenge is getting married to a Godly husband.

Do you know that it is possible to get married to a Godly man just by making your requests known to God?

That’s the right prayer for finding your future husband is just as effective as the prayer for any other need. You have to look at God as a father who loves meeting the needs of his children.

So is there a secret to it? Exactly how do you make prayer for the right partner in life? It is easier than you think.

The following are some tips to get you started on How To Pray For A Godly Husband:

  • Make your requests known.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Paul talks about two ways of living you can either worry about an issue, or you can present it as a request to God. As basic as it may sound you have to ask God for what you want.

How else do you expect God to answer your prayer if you are not asking him for your future husband? The best way to make your requests known to God is by writing them on paper.

If your desire is to find a husband who loves the Lord write that down on paper. You can then read the prayer to God. When writing down your prayer, be sure to be very specific.

Remember, God will give you the desires of your heart. Of course, the condition is you have to delight in him first (Psalms 37:4). The point is, make your requests as specific as possible. For instance:

  • A prayerful man
  • A man that loves Bible study
  • A man that is well-groomed
  • A hard-working man
  • A peaceful man
  • A man that is good looking
  • Man that is actively involved in church /ministry
  • A man that is generous
  • A loving and caring man
  • A romantic man

This is just a sample list but you need to make your own list and make it as comprehensive as possible. The book Prayers & Notes to My Future Husband has lots of helpful pointers that can help you when making your prayer list

  • Pray in faith.

And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Before reading out your prayer for your future husband to God, make sure you are in the faith. In the scripture above, it is clear that you must first be in faith before approaching God.

When you do this, you please God and when God is pleased, he will answer your miracle prayer to get married to a Godly man.

Praying in faith may be complicated or easy depending on how you look at it. to simplify it, it simply means having a strong resolve based on a strong desire.

This means the prayer you are raising in faith is more than just a wish. You are not wishing you got a godly man- you are believing God that you will get a good man.

When you pray in faith, you will be willing to wait patiently for him to answer. It might mean persisting in prayer until you get an answer.

You can even go on long prayer like say, setting aside a month to purely concentrate on praying for your future husband. The Waiting Room, a 31-day Devotional for Single Women Waiting for the Right Husband and 31 Days of Prayer for your Future Husband: Becoming a Wife Before the Wedding Day would be good resources to use during this time.

  • Ask for help.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. Gal. 6:2

It is our Christian duty to help other brothers and sisters with their burdens. For that reason, do not shy away from asking for help.  Look for some good Christian friends and request them to help you in prayer.

You might just find one who knows lots of things you didn’t on how to pray for a Godly husband.  You have to be careful who you ask to help you in prayer though.

For instance, it beats logic to ask someone who seems to never get their prayers answered for help. It is not a must for the person you ask for help to be married – all you need is a good Christian who understands prayer, and who can testify of a couple of things God has done for them through prayer.

You could also seek the help of your pastor, a church elder, or some other minister in your church that you are comfortable sharing your request with. The whole idea is to get someone who can agree with you for your future husband.

As Jesus taught, if two people agree on anything on earth, it will be done for them in heaven. When asking for help, be careful how you frame your requests because you do not want to come out as desperate.

For instance, don’t say, “pray for me to get a man.”  That sounds like you are so desperate and would be willing to get married to any man who presents himself.

  • Beware of the Enemy.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Before you make your first prayer to meet a husband, you should be prepared to get opposition from the adversary. One way he will try to interfere with your prayer for your future husband is by providing his own version of an answer to the prayer.

So many sisters have fallen for this trap so you need to be extra vigilant. The fact that a man is a regular attendee of the church, a choir member, or even a pastor doesn’t necessarily mean he is God’s will for you.

The best way to know for sure is to keep praying even after you meet the potential mate. Most people would assume that the first person to ask you out after starting praying for the right man would be the answer to the prayer and they wouldn’t bother to inquire from God.

But if you remain focused on hearing from God concerning this important decision, God will be sure to reveal to you whether or not the man you meet is God sent.

It is okay to wait. Even if the clock is ticking, there is no point hurrying into a marriage that will fail less than a year into it. you would rather take your time to get it right the first time. However, waiting forever is again not ideal.

Life needs to move on. So if you notice it is taking too long, maybe you may want to do some stocktaking and review to identify the problem. Could there be anything that is hindering your prayers? If you suspect so, deal with the hindrance.

  • Do your part.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

While prayer is very important in getting the right future husband, it will also take some effort on your side. Through prayer, God will order the steps of the right man towards you but you have an important role to play in attracting and retaining him.

And this is more than just personal grooming – there is also a very important aspect of inner beauty. Work on any character flaws that might be working against your goal of settling down.

If you go through 31 Prayers For My Future Husband: Preparing My Heart for Marriage by Praying for Him, you might just realize lots of unresolved issues that might be blocking the answer to your prayer.

Conclusion

After you have done all these, it is obviously important to actually go out to meet people. God will not drop your future husband into your prayer closet. You will need to get out there and mingle with people.

Joining a group or a ministry in your local church is a great way of developing your social skills while at the same time serving God. Also, do not believe in the narrative that there is a shortage of good men.

The word of God clearly says that none will lack her mate (Isaiah 34:16). As you approach God in prayer, do it in faith that you will meet your mate and in due time, it shall come to pass.
